178. Poetry Wednesday: Civil War: Part 2
When we returned “North” this is what happened…
(The poem starts here: Civil War)
Civil War
Part 2
The North
His parents were away,
on the heat-heavy night of our return
on Eastern Airlines,
“number one to the sun”
and we were driven
to the frigid refuge of
his parents’ bedroom.
Then:
partially unpacked bags,
co-mingled damp underwear,
condoms,
Kools,
cold, white king-size sheets.
Skin tannned,
wearing our hair
and our watches
we slept entwined
until the light crept
through the Venetian blinds
and painted slats on our faces.

There is romance woven all through this, Sans. So beautiful! The picture of two loved ones locked together in sleep. AWWW!!!! Such bliss you have painted.

Very visual, I like the line “and painted slats on our faces”. 🙂

*smile* Raw emotions and passions of youth don’t change because of location…

I think that’s the only poem I read so far (if I recall) with Steve in it where you captured a snapshot of a happier time together.

Nice that you didn’t know what was to come. I only heard 15 sec. of the music.

The artist or label that owns this song has not approved full-length streaming for our users. This is a 30 second preview. To listen to the full song, When ever you get this mesage under a song on imeem then you will only get a taste or maybe you would say ‘a quickie’ version.

This is beautiful Sue! Once again, such a vivid mental image. I join the others in loving the last line, but all of it, again, creates such a scene of happiness and young love. Well done my friend as always. Big, big hugs!!!!
