24. The Nipplemania Newsletter, 2022 Edition (Blogging for Breast Cancer): Sneaky
It’s October.
For years I have been fundraising for the American Cancer Society. It’s all about breast cancer and awareness. Each year I post links to my story. Lately it feels like the main core of the story is in the past and that the story has been evolving.
Let me just fill you in.
In February, I had a followup to the lumpectomy and removal of a papilloma which was diagnosed in Spring of 2021 and surgically removed in August. Everything was fine.
On to six months later, in August: am MRI revealed something “suspicious.” Then a subsequent mammo and sono.
A core needle biopsy. Another mammo.
The bottom line, sometime during the six months prior another papilloma formed and must be removed. They surely are sneaky. The doctor is pushing for a November removal.
My feeling of living on terra firma was shaken again, even though this is not a critical issue, still it is an issue that has recurred and is just plain annoying to deal with. If you recall, just a year ago: visit to surgeon, implantation and placement of “scout” radar device under mammo, Covid test, surgery under twilight sleep.
Yuck.
So, I have been preoccupied by Robert in the nursing home, Evan’s upcoming nuptials and this. But strangely, when there are so many things to think about I can only dwell on one thing at a time. For now, it is a wedding.
In honor of my son and his happy future, in honor of Robert, and in my own honor of forging ahead in a healthy life, I am doing my annual fundraising which will further take my mind off of everything else.
The Index to Blogging for Breast Cancer has been updated for 2022. I feel it my responsibility to continue spreading the word.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts and support, and for always being there.
