I thought I would update you on the storm from two days ago. This is how the street looks now.
Mind you, I had to call my councilman’s office to report that the snow plow had never come down the street. After last month’s fiasco with snow removal, the Mayor is notified directly. The plow came and cleared a bit of the mess and salted. Of course, when we started to dig out, a lot of the snow ended up back in the street. There’s an ice dam of
melt at the curb cut, but I couldn’t break through enough of the frozen area to allow the water to run out.
Do you think we can handle another foot of snow? They say it’s coming.
The mountain in front of my house was constructed by my son during the snow that feel Christmas time. It has melted somewhat–was about eight feet tall, he had to scale it to build it, but it is coming back up.
The leaders and gutters are a frozen icy mess and the constant dripping had cracked open the cement on the side of the porch.
I was pondering shoveling the back of the driveway so we could perhaps move a car off the street but fugeddaboutit. I had a hernia after one heavy shovel.
My car is wedged on ice between the street and the sidewalk.
My friend who lives in Manhattan says the streets are totally clear, you’d never know that it snowed. That’s the way it is…

My neighbor took his car out of a spot in front of his house and we use it to pile up snow. The only thing was walking each relatively small shovel full across the street and dumping it was more exhausting that trying to add it to my close to 4 foot pile against the car. You could hear all then men on the block creaking and moaning with back aches this morning. I was one of the guys.

Pass the blow torch. We need one 30 feet high.

Sue bad news. It has been snowing here since about 7 AM and was suppose to stop around 1. It’s 3 and still snowing. We were suppose to get 1/2 inch to an inch…we have about 1 1/2 inches. This is Alberta Clipper 1. We have Alberta Clipper 2 coming tomorrow night and “winter storm event” coming on Tuesday. I’m sorry we keep passing this up the coast. I wish there was something I could do. We are shoveling and piling also. I became an expert at it last year. Who knew we needed practice shoveling. I guess practice makes perfect. I was thinking of making a huge pile of snow and carving it into a sculpture. I think I’m getting snow insanity every time I think of this idea.

Thanks for the pics and music! We have snow here in VA too, but the biggest tragedy are folks without power.

In my basement.
Next question…!! Dave I have 2 sump pumps and French drains that usually do the trick. I am at the high end of the street. There is actually a lake nearby at the end of the low end and across the street.Does Toyota make boats? |

That stinks! That rarely happens here because utilities are underground.

Where’s Puxatawny Phil? He’ll never get out of the hole for Ground Hog’s Day. I might not either, come to think of it. |

Yes..I saw Manhattan with sidewalks and streets cleared on tv….what’s with this failure to deal with the white stuff? I’m sending up provisions…a case of good wine for you to enjoy and forget about going anywhere for a while! Mother Nature is really quite force this winter…enough already! |

Yeah I’m in a part of Canada that doesn’t get clobbered that hard, that isn’t NY snow, it’s Montreal snow, it’s crazy it’s that bad there. You are all over our news (well not you personally but your snow). Stay safe, and I hope this craziness ends soon! Miss you too!!

It all looks familiar Sue … I live in a townhouse in the burbs of Philadelphia … but no problem with unplowed streets here. The problem is always with shoveling my car out.
