77. Series: Part 15: The Walk, 2007
I’m back.
I did the 5 mile walk in an hour and 45 minutes.
I raised $1,525.
It was hot.
I was schvitzed.
I’m tired.
I am happy to be hot and tired; it means I am alive.
Fatigue is a privelege.
Over 6,000 walkers; one could barely move, but having so many supporters along with survivors is energizing. Survivors got hot pink SURVIVOR tee shirts, a pink carnation and a SURVIVOR sash. The most moving part of the walk is the ceremonial breaking through the pink ribbon as the survivors walk through and lead; then everyone falls into line, and we walk down a 2 1/2 mile stretch, loop around and come back; then we dive into cold apples, Blue Terra Chips, protein bars–if there are any left, and water. Somehow it seemed easier this year. Maybe I just feel stronger. Like I just kicked cancer’s ass.
