Sick Kitties Update 15, 16: 11/30/13, 12/2/13: In and Out
Ampersand was released on Saturday
I had a long wait to get in to see Play today. The operating room was busy and the patients were being brought in to the cages around him: a small dog had an eye issue and was barking and thrashing and beating his head against the cage floor trying to get the cone off; a huge red eyed bull dog was under Play making a barking racket. A little dog was spayed and sat quietly in the first upper cage. Next to Play was a sad black cat who had had a massive tumor on his right hind leg and like Play had an amputation.
He had just come out of surgery and was all stitched up and shivering, obviously in pain. I am glad I wasn’t there to see Play like that, mewling and on pain meds, BUT these cats lives were saved so gratitude is in order. The question is, why are these innocent sweet animals getting such horrid cancers?
Across the room was my sweet little friend, Baby Cream Puff. Uh oh, they say. “if you name it you own it.” I haven’t seen such a tiny little cutie pie in a long while. We had a cuddle for a nice half hour or so. I figured as long as I am visiting Play I might as well check up on everyone else.
This is the sweet little girl that was abandoned by her mother and we wonder why. Did the mother know something we haven’t seen? She is eating well and has just been introduced to food. There’s nothing like a kitten snuggling up to your neck.
Here’s some good news: it took me a long while to find a decent price for Play’s insulin (Lantus) and I ended up after much research in Walgreen’s. Insulin has become very expensive, and then there are the syringes. I filled a prescription twice and both times was shocked to be charged tax, making what I thought was a good price into a much higher expense. I never heard of such a thing but I accepted the explanation that this prescription was for a pet. It’s been bothering me for months. I mentioned it to my vet and a pharmacist at CVS and guess what? NOT TRUE! NO TAX. I called Walgreen’s and spoke to the pharmacist who agreed there was an error, I brought in my receipts (yes, still had them) and got over a $30 refund. Can you imagine how many other people got ripped off due to some misinformed staff and a faulty programmed computer? Disgraceful!
More good news: Play is ready to come home. I have to work out the day as I have a few things going on this week.Keep your fingers crossed that the bill doesn’t kill me and that things go smoothly.
Couldn’t have done this without you. Thanks for all the messages and comments.
Play looks definitely better. His eyes have finally cleared, also his coat looks shinier. He’s still a little subdued, but he’ll certainly be happy to go back home. What about the tiny kitty? Will she follow Play? 😉
I am so happy that Play will be released from his cage! Good luck with him!
