5. Life Is A Journey, But This Is A Trip: On Medical Marijuana and CBD Oil
I am convinced, that after having joined a group of almost 150,000 people on facebook for people who are using or want more info about using CBD oil, that there will be a new movement, that people are dissatisfied with Big Pharma, and that there ARE answers to medical issues. I am learning that people have regained hope and that many who have been taking CBD oil (no Rx needed, legal in the 50 states, does not make one high, there is no THC) have seen monumental results. One mentioned that her thyroid is now testing “normal” and that she no longer needs to take the standard thyroxin Rx. People are coming off opioids, anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medication, pain-killers. This to me is significant results. And although the results were not acquired during a clinical trial, the people speak.
One friend’s doctor recommended that she try a CBD oil vape for her Crohn’s Disease. Another, who is suffering from PTSD tried it for her insomnia and is sleeping. SLEEPING! RESTING. This is important stuff. When I was focused on medical marijuana and getting my card, CBD oil was alien to me. YOU CON’T NEED A CARD FOR CBD PRODUCTS. I didn’t know enough to make an educated decision. As I learn more, I apply more and feel better.
I am stoked.
So let me fill you in. I took my third dose of AIMOVIG which is the self-injection for migraine that was recently released after receiving FDA approval. In the 3 months that I have been taking this new drug, I have not had to take any Advil or migraine med for head pain. My pain was always manageable but I had to take meds consistently, sometimes for days to get rid of the dull ache. If the barometer went down. If the barometer went up. I reached the point this month where the ache can be ignored. That’s big stuff.
Ocular migraine is my nemesis; it took over my life: surprise abductions into the land of partial vision loss for 30 minutes, Sometimes the episodes would pile up on top of one another and the usual 30 minutes would expand to more than an hour, the aura beginning over and again.
During the first 16 days of the month I was able to wipe out 5 potential, beginning episodes, some multiple, with my vape. This left me with 2 full episodes. Two is a lot less than the almost daily issue I was having. Now, however, I am much more aware of my feeling of disequilibrium which has led me to almost-vertigo attacks. Vertigo is by far, the worst. It is possible that the new PT I have begun is stimulating the dizzyness; I was told this could happen. During one exercise I felt an ocular coming on and left the treatment to vape in the hallway. THAT is a question: if you can’t use your vape in a public area, where do you go? If this is medication should one be banned?
OK, so, what I thought was an ocular episode coming disappeared. But each morning for weeks, prior to the beginning of the treatment, I have felt like I was on a listing ship. Gratefully it is not the wild spin I sometimes feel, but it does affect my quality of life. They say migraine symptoms morph—maybe that is what is happening? Who the heck knows?
Back to the experiment.
- I am taking medical marijuana oil in the morning and evening. I purchased one of each, with and without THC;
- I have 2 bottles of Charlotte’s Web: one and 2-dot strength. The 2-dot strength, known as Plus, can knock me out for 10 hours and that is without THC. Charlotte’s Web is the hemp oil that was used to control the constant seizures of little Charlotte Figi whose family moved to Colorado several years back so she could have her oil which was made by the Stanley Brothers. I have vapes with the oil, too.
- I carry a bottle of whatever oil is on hand in my bag
- I carry a medical marijuana vape so that I could try to stop an ocular episode
- I am trying out various salves and lotions
- I am trying out the Vape Bright CBD oil vape
I am trying. Slowly I am seeing results. You can too.
The first of the series on CBD oil/medical marijuana, begins here.
