150. Mother-Daughter Journey: When Push Comes To Shove
And now this.
I received a frantic phone message at about 8:30 am from my mother; I heard it after the fact.
“S! S! pick up the phone, pick up the phone!”
Then I received calls and messages. (I must have been in the bathroom). From the agency that employs the aides.
And then I connected with my mother who informed me that:
~the regular aide didn’t come in today
~another aide came late, one who works for her in rotation.
My mother complained about this aide last week. She said she left food garbage on the floor and dirty dishes in the sink. Her regular aide found this the following day but would not speak to the agency on my mother’s behalf. My mother has also complained that this woman proselytizes and tries to get her to convert. This morning she called my mother a liar and worse.
Anyway, something happened this morning, I don’t know what exactly, nor do I know what precipitated some incident but it sounds like my mother might have pushed a button and the woman lost it. She cursed at my mother, called her a dirty bitch and more and allegedly pushed her (“with force”) into the wooden footboard of the bed, onto her behind. She allegedly took the phones and wouldn’t let my mother use them. My mother is legally blind, she didn’t see the aide, still in the room, she says she ran out of the room to a neighbor to call security. The aide allegedly called down to security, still in her room to tell them that my mother was not locked out. She said, she said.
All of this jumble and insanity first off, first thing. And of course the story was repeated over and over each time I spoke to my mother. I had one party on the landline and my mother on the cell.
I left a message for the building social worker.
I spoke to the agency.
I called the managed long term care.
I made statements.
The agency, long term care and I had a conference call. As soon as I said my mother was in pain and that I would have to get medical assistance and probably file a police report, things began to hop. But there are still no answers. The aide was called into the main agency office to be interviewed. I am waiting to hear how she attempts to cover herself. I am going over to bring my mother to the on-site medical team and let them take a look at her. When I have the facts I’ll figure out what to do. But one thing I know, if a 101 year old woman is in physical pain, something happened. It’s one more thing to add intrigue to daily life.
When push comes to shove, everything gets pushed aside and you stand up.

OMG! Just what you needed.
I hope your mom is okay and not too badly injured. IF the story is true, that aide should not be just fired, but prosecuted. Elder abuse is real, and no matter how difficult their patients, the aides have to learn to just ignore it and walk away.
Not to be believed!
Omg. ❤️
