539. The Nine Lives Times: Little Arnold Update: CATastrophe?
Dear friends and supporters of Little Arnold Schwartz Katz:
It seems the little pet who adopted us has had a mishap. We don’t know if he caught something, was injured, or attacked by the orange guys, Sorbet and Sorbetto, but he appears to have an eye infection and is barely eating. He takes a few bites and hides. My neighbors saw his eye was red, and then the next day it was black and he couldn’t open it.
I think the inner eyelid might have been covering the eye for protection. The following day it improved a bit and I could see part of his yellow iris. Today his eye was closed and running.
I never thought I’d lose sleep over a stray cat but this little guy got to me.
If my neighbor and I can’t get him to a vet I will have to have trapper John come and try to get him. I am heartsick. When we put food out he sits on his little towel and barely moves. I can’t think of bringing a fourth kitty in without a clean bill of health and I was warned that major disruption among my cat family might ensue.
If you believe that cats have nine lives, please clap for Little Arnold and hope he has a few left.
Thanks.

He’s so sweet–last year I had him trapped, neutered, all his shots, to give him a better chance of surviving. He’s all alone, it’s so sad.

Aw Sue, I am sending up prayers that Arnold recovers. It’s so true that animals adopt or pick us, isn’t it? Please keep us posted as your time allows. Hugs.

Love being sent for your sweet ball of fluff. At least he has his guardian human looking out for him.

I saw him briefly on my neighbor’s porch, he ate yesterday and today and disappeared. He no longer comes for two meals. It’s pouring out and I can’t stop thinking about him! I hope we can get him some help.

I haven’t seen Arnold on my porch in many days; he’s been eating on my neighbor’s porch early in the morning and then he leaves and doesn’t cme back like he used to. His eye is obviously in need of attention. I spoke to the fellow who traps for me and we are going to try to get him and take him to a vet. I am seriously considering–if he is not contagious–taking him in. But then he has my three cats to contend with. I think the problem is also that he has been neutered and there are aggressive males out there. It’s cold out there and I don’t want to lose him. 🙁

POOOR ARNOLD! He came by this morning and ate which is a good sign but he looks emaciated and in this cold that can’t be good.

i’m glad he at least came by for a meal; i am certain he has sensed how worried you have been about him. i know it is not easy to see him like that, hun……but you must understand and respect that he is more of a free spirit and would never ever be happy to be fussed over or an indoor cat. such things are just not in his reality. also, i really hope you know that he really DOES love and appreciate you. i promise you, he does. HUGS

Ohhh thanks Deb! I called the trapper guy to see if we can set up a trap and get him to the vet. I would consider taking him in if he were noncontagious to my 3, I fear he won’t survive.
