My orange tree is in bloom…in my living room. Fabulous fragrance.
This flower is spectacular…and very tiny. I never thought it would make it. I bought it years ago to replace my beloved orange tree of thirty-five years that was in my home.
The original tree was a mail order purchase: the plant came in a little box and was about as big as my thumb. It was a member of the family and its blooms were delightful and the room smelled heavenly. After the original tree I was left heartbroken. I saved some of the last little oranges and planted the seeds. I got another tree! BUT it is full of THORNS!!! NEVER saw anything like this-THORNS! They are as long as toothpicks! This tree never bloomed but I am hoping and hoping.
The replacement one didn’t fare so well over the years; it is about five now, I guess. But, I recentlyI started watering it with MirAcid and I think that helped. It’s blooming!
It is lovely. Orange trees I have seen all have thorns. I wonder if they survive the harsh winter. Unbelievably it snowed here once back in 1997 and the lawns and treetops burnt. It was so odd at this latitude…
It is lovely, nice that it made it, looks to be a strong plant. My year old Christmas cactus is blooming now /:-)
Mine last for a while and then just poop out. I had a gorgeous Thanksgiving cactus and Easter cactus!!! Also didn’t last as long as I had hoped. I wonder if it is the same plant and just trained to bloom at different times of the year?
