Steller Story Series: A Charmed Life: Book 8: Food!

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on February 4, 2019 by Sans SouciFebruary 4, 2019

I have been photographing—and re-photographing my collection and designs; so this is a multi-faceted project: one project, the collecting, then the designing, begat another; the photography and presentation. Here is a link to the on-line presentation on Steller. If you are so inclined, download the Steller app. It is lovely the way the pages “turn.” The view is especially impressive on a large screen, as on a tablet. Feel free to comment!       Steller Link: Book 8

Playing Catch-Up: Cats, Cold, Mothers, Makeup and Art

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on January 23, 2019 by Sans SouciJanuary 23, 2019

The last we spoke, it was a rocky start to The New Year, and Caramel was in a bad way. But she came home and began eating, purring and exploring; I am sure the relief of the draining of that huge cyst was enormous. It was likely pressing on her trachea and vocal cords. She looks so much better and at least we know now what the culprit might be in the future if this returns: if she is strong enough, they’ll likely remove her thyroid. You know you love kitties: here’s a slideshow of improvement. So, while the … Continue reading →

Healing: Scenes at the Vet

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on January 12, 2019 by Sans SouciJanuary 12, 2019

Yesterday we made a heartwarming visit to the vet to see how Caramel was doing. Animals do get depressed when away from their familiar surroundings; I opened the cage door and she was truly forlorn—OK, so I am projecting. She sniffed my hand and sniffed some more. Remember, she was unable to breathe and smell for weeks. She picked up my scent and pushed her head into my hand. This is language. It was dinner time. The tech put a dish of food and water into her cage and she went right over to it and began to EAT, a … Continue reading →

On Family

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on January 11, 2019 by Sans SouciJanuary 11, 2019

The news in review 1. People Family Hello, friends, it has been a while. I hope you are all well and I wish you the best for the coming year. What’s new here, you ask? Let’s see. My mother seems to be stable, thankfully. Her DNA report came back and I am bombarded by potential cousins. Speaking of cousins, I was able to get in touch with one of my favorite cousins who now lives in California. We were on the phone for over three hours; it was enlightening, and amazing to get a first hand view of an … Continue reading →

141. Mother-Daughter Journey: The Tangle of Memory

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on December 10, 2018 by Sans SouciFebruary 13, 2019

Yesterday, I visited my mother: Each time I see her I marvel at how she is still here, still processing information, still eating and breathing. If she makes it to her next birthday, she will be 101 years old. However, these visits come at a price. They are bittersweet, they are double-edged: The steel of the sword is reflective of the temperature of the visit, warm with joy, cold with fear. I came with the usual bag-in-hand and notes to myself. Things to leave, things to pick-up. Don’t forget to leave the rent check. Put the knishes in the fridge, … Continue reading →

Manifesting Thoughts in the Season of Miracles

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on December 8, 2018 by Sans SouciDecember 8, 2018

Hi, all, it’s been a while! Let me fill you in with a story. So, for years I have been thinking of my cousin, Steven. I hadn’t seen him since my 20’s and had begun working on East 23 St., at “JHS 47”. One day I ran out of one train and was heading for another, early one morning, and literally crashed into him on a Times Square platform. That was the last time I saw him. Frankly, I hadn’t seen him all too often before that. Before my Aunt, Annette, passed away in Florida, my mother had visited … Continue reading →

7. Life is a Journey, But This is a Trip: The Magic Oil/Migraine Update

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on November 10, 2018 by Sans SouciFebruary 27, 2019

Good morning to you, reader and a happy Saturday. Though the face of every newspaper and newscast is enough to make me cringe, I am learning to contain and reframe my anxiety about the state of the world. CBD oil(s) do help. What is even more miraculous is that the migraine issue, though deeply rooted over my lifetime is hanging on, I can happily report improvements. It’s time for an update!       My migraine issues are reflective of what I think are chemical/electric cycles in the brain, a kind of build-up that needs to be discharged. I have … Continue reading →

Sending You On A Memory

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on November 1, 2018 by Sans SouciFebruary 27, 2019

This is a post from the past. A Throwback Thursday post. When I brought my little orange tree in for the winter, it tapped into a memory. I am sharing that memory with you, It is made of 4-linked parts. It’s about love and loss. The photos on this page were taken today. Branches and Leaves begins here. Put your speakers on for part 4.

140: Mother-Daughter Journey: Fall Returns

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on October 16, 2018 by Sans SouciDecember 10, 2018

Hello friends. I haven’t written about my mom since July. My focus was usurped by my search for a migraine cure, my reports on medical marijuana and CBD oil. There are other things going on here, in the family, that divert me: my life goes in cycles. First it’s her, then it’s him, then it’s me, then it’s the other him. It can be very distracting and perhaps distracting is good. So, let’s go back to her. My mother has been relatively quiet for a while. She recently said that there was a new cook in the building and that … Continue reading →
