Full House
Yesterday when I arrived at the vet all the cages were full and animals were being x-rayed, and many were on IV’s. I decided to bring a can of premium cat food with me for Ampersand as well as some fresh chicken. No sooner did I start feeding him, a bunch of kitty cronies (not sick but up for adoption) put in their orders, Of course Moo had to have some too. So, there I was, giving out chicken and hoping a few felines had a bright spot in their day.
There were also many dogs: big ones, little ones, the siblings recovering from pneumonia (brought in from a pet store, obviously obtained from a puppy mill). Little Rosie the poodle wailing away for attention in the next cage. They see me, they know me. I feel like I work there.
In the meantime, at home, three legs is no handicap for a playful orange boy.
And then there is Ampersand. He loves when I come. He is no longer being medicated directly to the eye nor is his face being cleaned; it’s too stressful for him. The eye membrane is less red but the eye is not normal–it is open, the lens floating on top. He likely can’t see from that eye at this time, but it may heal and there may be a contact lens for this problem. I don’t know why things like this happen. Sometimes it’s about a full house. Sometimes it’s about a full heart.
sue, ampersand looks so much like my beloved long lost pet that my heart goes out to her and you. hope all will be well soon. i half expect you, sue, to adopt all that you can at the vets. helaine

May you heal soon, and as well as Play has. And now that you are receiving the benefit of love through the human touch, you’re finding that it ain’t so bad after all, eh? There’ll be a lot more where that came from when you’re back home!

Sue, I just prayed for your beautiful Ampersand. I just pray he will come home soon, the eye will heal and he can be happy. I am so glad to know you, such a wonderful lady. These pets and are so lucky to have you. I see their eyes so lost. I just do not understand so many animals left to not have any care. It’s awful. Your Play and Momma look good. God Bless you all.
