Hoping For A Miracle
I am mortified; one of my cats survived cancer and lost a leg. His brother developed a bowel problem, went to the vet, returned home after three days and within two weeks got a mysterious eye infection. It initially looked innocuous, just a lot of tearing. It spread from one eye to the other, the eyes became inflamed then ceased producing tears. The membranes turned bright red. One eye looked horrendous.
Ampersand has been at the vet for a month since this eye infection began. The vets have a terrible time cleaning him and medicating him. He went berserk today when anyone went near his face. His eye looked awful. For a while there was hope that it was healing after it actually burst and leaked, then refilled. Now the feeling is it is not getting better. He loves when I visit and allows me to cuddle him in the cage, but he gets extremely upset if I try to clean the gook off his face and apply compresses to his eye.
I think he must be in tremendous discomfort. I am stuck I don’t want him in pain but he seems to be very stressed and still ill. What to do?
This is how the vet’s back room looks. More and more sick animals coming in for treatment. Eventually they leave.
Mine stay for months.
Why?
Moo is a feral who loves us. For everyone but one technician, it’s “hands off.”
Ampersand’s roommates; they come and go.
Amp rests after an hour of cuddling and purring.
We hope the eye can be saved
