Nurture Nature: iPhone Photography Series: The Little Green Guy Beetle Project
When you come face to face with nature, you are changed.
I’ll begin here.
We are home more. I am lucky to have a garden. I am lucky to be curious and to have maintained my sense of awe.
So, I will begin here.
During the summer I have been photographing interactions with little creatures. I have been amazed by the smallest things that walk or fly or crawl, eat and drink. The larger I make the images, the more amazed I am. I find them on the deck, in the soil, on a leaf. If you are squeamish, maybe you will learn not to be and learn to see the beauty in what is around us. Seemingly tiny things, meaningless things. All connected things.
I found this metallic green beetle on the deck. He was beautiful from afar but even more so close-up.
What was he looking for? A rose? When I made the photo larger through cropping and and macro app, even a macro lens,
I could see little antlers and a long whiteish hair-like strand. Was it his? Did he find something, was he carrying something?
Could he see my bright green eyes with his bright green eyes?
So cool.
