Dropping Dimes

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on August 6, 2013 by Sans SouciAugust 6, 2013

Today I was the enforcer … While scrolling through my facebook newsfeed my eye caught a post from someone who posted from his feed. It seems that someone had set up a facebook page advertising excellent, phony official documents at a good price. This includes PASSPORTS.  I “dropped” a couple of dimes about this one. The implications are unfathomable. And more: Let’s rewind the clock, shall we? When my mother returned home to her Florida apartment on Hospice care in March after having been in the hospital for a month, she returned to an apartment full of vermin. Up … Continue reading →

Pissed Consumer: Weekend Update: Phones and Phooey

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on July 28, 2013 by Sans SouciJuly 28, 2013

I am posting this for my own edification, lest I forget and need my notes for phone rage. Part 1 Follow-up: Verizon: Last week, just as I was about to sit down and try to relax the mail arrived; in the pile was the first Verizon bill since the ongoing service fiasco. The last post was here. Now I will add this: my bill was over $850.00. So much for sitting down and relaxing — I subsequently had to spend about two hours on the phone, again in an attempt to straighten this all out. Just when I thought it … Continue reading →

Part 7: Pissed Consumer: Resolved? “It’s Always Something” -Gilda Radner

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on July 5, 2013 by Sans SouciJuly 26, 2013

It took three calls to the New York State Public Service Commission to seemingly resolve the issues. Can’t wait for the bill to come in and to try to decipher it. I got something bill-like in the mail for -.41. Figure that one out. I am not even going to try. You know about my fight to keep one of my phones on copper. Here’s an article you should read from The Washington Post on Verizon and the quest to do away with traditional copper phone lines: click here True to Mercury in Retrograde form, my computer got wonky, aol … Continue reading →

Part 6: Pissed Consumer: It Ain’t Just Me

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 30, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 30, 2013

Click on this!↕ Here’s a link to the New York Times article. How timely is this? I am still in my quest to stand up to a corporation: Verizon. My journey begins as outlined in this blog and still in progress. This month I have dealt with Verizon, Natura Pet Food, my mother’s assisted living facility, and would also have involved Corelle products but I got so disgusted with all the time I spend with this kind of stuff I put my latest nastygram off. (I purchased a bunch of attractive Corelle dishes to fill in for a waning old … Continue reading →

Part 5: Pissed Consumer Update

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 28, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 29, 2013

I write these blogs so I can recall events. This Pissed consumer series about Verizon just keeps going and going. In my previous post which mentioned the Verizon issues, I stated that things were possibly on the way to be resolved. As things stand now, days after I spoke to Miss Lima, my main line has not been moved back to Fi-OS, it is still on digital voice. If I pick up the receiver to make a call, it stutters, indicating messages, however the account was never set-up. The interesting thing is that if the phone is off the hook … Continue reading →

Part 4: Pissed Consumer: More Bupkis on the Floor

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 24, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 26, 2013

Where to start? You all know that I’ve been pissed at and been head-to-head with: Verizon: all kinds of crazy stuff My mother’s assisted living facility in Florida: rodents Natura, a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, cat food recalls   oh, right, Monsanto is killing us but I am here for now to write this post and hoping that all the GMO’s I have ingested in my life don’t attack me before I am finished Today’s rant will pick up where I left off with Verizon. At the beginning of last week I spoke to Ann Marie at the Verizon … Continue reading →

Pissed Consumer: Procter & Gamble Makes Pet Food That’s Not 99/44% Pure

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 19, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 20, 2013

I am beginning to feel that a day doesn’t go by when I don’t have to waste time running after some irresponsible corporation. My ongoing issue with Verizon has not been resolved so why not add to the fun? Little did I know when I purchased my first bag of Evo dry, grain-free food that it was produced by a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble, which will, by the way, always remind me of Ivory soap … which was “99/44% pure.” Pure what? Here I can tell you that my Evo didn’t follow behind the Ivory soap reputation. By sheer … Continue reading →

Pissed Consumer Part 3: Confused Consumer

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 16, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 24, 2013

And you thought the Verizon stuff was resolved, right? On Friday afternoon I returned home to find that there was a message from Verizon’s escalation department (because I called the New York State Public Service Commission ). It seems that my second phone line which had been on copper and was moved to FI-OS (without my permission) was in limbo and I was asked to call “Anne Marie” back. I did. Left a message. Now I am waiting for a call-back. My second phone line does not ring at all, copper or cable. Speaking of messages, recently, several people were … Continue reading →

Pissed Consumer Part 2. A Change On The Verizon

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 12, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 16, 2013

Part 1 begins here. I may not have won a battle or a war, but because I registered a complaint with the New York State Public Service Commission yesterday, I got a call-back from Ms. Lee of the Verizon Corporate Office. She had a record of everyone I dealt with on the phone yesterday and I reiterated about how close I came to calling Time Warner cable and jumping ship. (Frying pan to frying pan.) The way I see it, I spend $3-4,000 annually on Verizon’s services and the sudden $3/mo. surcharge for keeping my number unlisted is nothing short … Continue reading →

Pissed Consumer: Part 1: A Change On the Verizon

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 11, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 12, 2013

Well, boys and girls, here’s another tale of devious business practices that I am dealing with. I have been on the phone for about two hours after having received my Verizon bill. I get the “triple play” and have been happy with it, I have in general been happy with Verizon services, but what recently happened is unconscionable. I have two phone lines. One is on Fi-OS, high speed fiber optic cable, and the second has always been on copper wire. During the storms of last year, Fi-OS was down and took my phone, internet and television with it for … Continue reading →

A Case of Planned Obsolescence

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on June 5, 2013 by Sans SouciJune 11, 2013

I began my day with the intention of completing a load of paperwork. I had forms to fill out; before doing so I like to make copies to have an extra blank set just in case. My all-in-one printer which I have had since 2006 spat out strange looking copies: they reminded me of of a street that had just been routed before paving. There were rectangles and squares of hundreds of minute lines where graphics and text should have been. No matter what I did I couldn’t get a normal copy. And, of course it was working fine last … Continue reading →
