Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on May 23, 2017 by Sans SouciMay 27, 2017

Grandma couldn’t read or write; in Russia, girls were forbidden to be schooled. This was Kiev and the Tsar was in charge; … Continue reading →

384 Part 2. Photo Journal: The National Yiddish Book Center on the campus of Hampshire College, Amherst, MA…more food and poetry

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on October 23, 2012 by Sans SouciJanuary 14, 2013

I have done several blogs on The National Yiddish Book Center; we are annual visitors and the place always amazes us. This is the place to go to learn about Yiddish culture. The founder, Aaron Lansky who can be heard at this link, single-handedly set out to save as many Yiddish books as he could obtain when just a student. His book, “Outwitting History” is the story of how this incredible undertaking began and evolved. The … Continue reading →

269. Travel part 2: Poetry to Photography: The National Yiddish Book Center

Cerebral Jukebox Magazine Posted on October 14, 2012 by Sans SouciNovember 2, 2012

click here for Part 1 of trip. Photo from 2007 trip along with first slide show and poetry. Before I proceed, I would like to offer a little information on the Yiddish language. It also is a cultural center where Jews from all over the world come … Continue reading →
