Tuesday Tech Tips 101: ooooops they got me…twice…more computer stuff…
Well, friends, I think I continue to get the prize for computer wackiness; if Mercury is the god of communication in them thar Greek parts, can he still be in retrograde?
If you recall, I was drowning in Dell computer issues and if you were following my tales of woe through the years, (yes, years) you would now know that: •I had an original laptop that I purchased in 2009 and within a year it had to be replaced due to puter poltergeist; •that in a little over a year the replacement computer had to be replaced due to freezing and the same wacky poltergeist as its predecessor; •that a “mini” computer, soon after, began to display the same disease; •that the disease I speak of consisted of typed words and letters flying to other lines on the page thus making my writing less than cogent and appearing as though I were speaking in tongues; •that around that time I purchased a Mac out of disgust and desperation; •that both the replacement computers took months to set up and run properly and had to be replaced three more times.
I rest my case and my insanity and am knocking wood that all appears to be working well, even my five year old desktop.
And then this happened:
I had been so busy with my PC issues with Dell that I did not even bother firing up the new Mac; it sat lonely in its case having been shunned by its roommates of a different operating system. But I decided on Friday night to pull it out and let it visit with holiday company.
Here’s what happened:
•I booted it up;
•I marveled at its brushed aluminum beauty;
•I tried to briefly reacclimate myself–the Mac/PC divide is a chasm for me;
•The computer began to do an update that required rebooting;
•It froze;
•It died;
•I was floored.
