Vintage Charm Bracelets:All my designs and creations:The heart series
The “Am I blue?” bracelet is a mix of enameled and non-enameled and stone inlay hearts in shades of blue. The bracelet itself is probably from the 1970’s, but the woven mesh and silver work goes well with the charms.
Many of the charms are engraved: Ruby, C.T., Dot, B.M., J/r, M.M., Maurice, M.C. Papa, Sarah.
The engraving style varies and indicates the age of the piece.
The second piece, “Hearts and Flowers” is unique in that the 1970’s chain is double. The charms are a mélange of enamel and non-enamel, and stone inlay, from different time periods. The little floral enamel heart lock, second from the left, is a highly collectible Walter Lampl.
I chose a floral padlock to create a clasp redolent of the past. Walter Lampl padlock heart charms with working keys frequently go for over $300 on ebay.
The engravings read: J.B., F.M., Bob, Bee, V.V.D.
The links make it! Taking advantage of non-charm bracelets.
The “Hearts on the Gate” bracelet (2 views) is a 1970’s Gate Link bracelet. I took advantage of a very unique piece; each link is composed of 4 bars creating a gate effect. the clasp is a padlock.
From the rungs of the gate I staggered the vintage hearts from the Deco period and up, adding a touch of color for interest—the cobalt heart and the surprise of a little bluebird and a miniature floral enamel heart.
Some of the hearts are engraved on the back:
James, GG, Monty, M.B. Bill and Dazy, Marie, Opal
“Love and Luck” is also a non-charm bracelet from the 20’s, composed of horse shoes.
The clasp is a horse shoe on a chain at one end that goes through and meshes with the one at the other; very unusual. Each horse shoe becomes the venue for a heart, from the 20’s to 40’s.
Every heart here is the same in the back, 2 faced, save for one that is engraved “Grandma.”
I am partial to “Hearts on Lace.” The light and airy chain from the 70’s, is composed of filigree
links and is woven with a mesh braid. The hearts are from the pre-20’s (the oldest is the 3rd from left with the little stars) and into the 60’s. One has a turquoise, the enamels are beautiful.
Several are engraved: Mike, J.C., Kay, Clara

1 charm. Wait til you see my mechanicals! It requires serious collecting and ebaying which is a story in and of itself. I belong to a collector’s group and know some of the professional people who wrote the book. |
