Well Kitty Update 17: 12/3/13: He’s Home But Where’d He Go?
He’s home, yes, home. Here’s how today’s visit went. The usual late afternoon arrival and visits to the gang in the back room. The kitties come and go, some get adopted, some wait for years for a home. I was amazed that this vet has taken in so many animals over the years. The cat that had the leg amputation yesterday is likely going home tomorrow. That shows how horrendous diabetes is: Play took five times longer to be well enough to go home.
It was decided that Play was well enough to leave yesterday but I wasn’t officially informed. I figured that since I was there and there was time to get him ready, then this evening would be the right time. A final nail clip was done at my request, the collar was removed, and Play was put into the carrier. Not willingly. He howled all the way to the vet and now he was howling all the way home.
When the carrier was opened, the other cats looked curiously as Play made a bee-line to the closet and buried himself in coats and boots well past his dinner time.
can you fine the orange kitty?
I had to dig around for a few minutes to finally find Play planted in a shoe box.
I lured him out with some crunchy food and he found his diner bowl and ravenously consumed the contents. And asked for more. OK, I gave him more, but not much because he can overeat. Insulin given, no problem.
Mother, Caramel tried to figure out what was going on
Play ran, having just got out of a cage for more than five weeks, ran, up thirteen stairs to the second floor and tried to jump on my bed and couldn’t make it. I’d say that’s pretty phenomenal in light of his condition. I picked him up and put him on the down comforter. He was in heaven. He washed his face for the first time in well over a month.
But, I have no idea where he is now. I looked all over. He found himself a safe place and is likely exhausted and curled up asleep.
More to come tomorrow. I need to curl up in a safe place too. It’s been a long five weeks.
After his hiding, he looks so content! Hope he allows himself to be found soon for some more TLC….maybe he’s allowing you the space and time to get some TLC of your own…sooo glad he’s home! And how is your other kitty, who wound up being Play’s next-door neighbor?
A great day!!!
