It appears that Ampersand is improving slightly each day, but it will take weeks more of treatment at the vet; I can’t handle him, it takes one or two techs to treat him. The eye looks terrible but it is better than before.
After almost an hour of tickle-time and purring, Amp takes a break
My experience with the sick pets who are away from home, frightened and upset, has led me to realize that caring and contact are essential to healing.
When I arrive to visit the food dish is sitting and the contents are barely touched. After some contact and the turning on of the purr-motor, Ampersand eats. Just like us: it is more pleasant to eat with company, when we feel well, when worries are banished. Animals are no different. I know they have feelings.
I wish Amp and Moo could be friends. Moo has her own problems, she’s frightened and anxious and can’t deal with change. Only a couple of people can touch her. My fantasy is that we could have a penguin-kitty love-story: Amp would look at her with his good eye. She would look at him with her two good eyes. They would fall in love with each other’s black and white-cookie-coats, all fears would be banished, all illness gone and they would live happily ever after. (I’d have to adopt Moo, of course).
May your day be filled with a love-story.
wonderful you have the time to spend with poor little kitty, retirement does have extra blessings!
Step by step, the healing will take place. And who knows, maybe a feline love story too 😉
